The R2P Primary Downpipes are a high-performance upgrade for the BMW M5 F90 and M8 (F91, F92, F93) equipped with the S63 4.4L Twin-Turbo V8 engine. Made from 304 stainless steel with a 1200°C ceramic thermal coating, these downpipes eliminate the restrictions of the original system and improve exhaust flow, allowing the turbos to respond more quickly. Their 102 mm (4 inch) diameter and 3D design with no internal reductions guarantee optimal flow, while the thermal insulation protects sensitive engine bay components and keeps the intake air temperature stable.

Performance

The R2P downpipes eliminate the restrictive primary catalytic converters of the original system, allowing gains of up to an additional 50 hp and 80 Nm with a Stage 2 remap. Unlike alternatives without thermal coating, these downpipes keep intake air temperatures (IAT) stable, preventing power losses from excessive heat. In addition, the V8 engine sound becomes deeper and more aggressive, highlighting the sporty character of the M models.

  • Is it necessary to remap the ECU? Yes. To eliminate the check engine light (CEL) and take advantage of the full potential, a Stage 2 remap is recommended.
