Stage 2 adds the hardware the software needs to breathe — typically a high-flow downpipe and an upgraded intercooler — unlocking a more aggressive map. Stage 3 is where the platform really opens up: an upgraded turbocharger, supported by fuelling and intake hardware, takes the B48 well beyond what the stock charger can deliver. Each stage builds on the last; skipping supporting hardware is the most common mistake we see, so plan the full path before you buy.
